Sundgau
Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's Opinion
Its hills, cliffs, narrow gorges and forests of beech and pine have earned the Sundgau, in southern Alsace, the nickname of "Alsace of Jura". Its lakes are genuine reservoirs of wildlife and its distinctive houses sport sloping roofs that nearly touch the ground and a characteristic half-timbered structure. The charming villages of Oltingue, Ferrette, Bouxwiller, Grentzingen are all worthy of mention. Take your time and sample some fried carp, the local specialty!
