The Cortile del Broletto is an elegant square courtyard surrounded by some interesting buildings, such as Palazzo Arengo (13C); Palazzo dei Paratici (14C), to the east; to the south, the Palazzo del Podestà (15C) and to the west, the Palazzo dei Referendari (15C), once used for tax collection. The whole complex is now home to the Galleria d'Arte Moderna Paolo e Adele Giannoni, which houses an excellent collection of Italian painting from the 19C and early 20C.
