The Michelin Guide's review
Set on a lonely crag of volcanic rock along the coast, the skeletal ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle are a moving sight. Built in the 14C, the castle is protected by two natural ramparts, a steep cliff and the sea. The entrance, flanked by two imposing D-shaped towers, gives an impression of how large the castle would have been when fully standing.
