This was the main section of a fortified castle built by Henry II and completed by Richard the Lionheart. More than just a castle, it was a walled city with dwellings, gardens, parade grounds and a collegiate church. Equipped with the latest interactive multimedia technology, it displays regional archaeological collections, a video that explains the phases of construction of the keep and the ethnological section, which boasts a fine collection of regional furniture and a traditional Poitou interior.
