The Michelin Guide's review
Designed by Norman Foster, the elegant Carré d'Art is home to the multimedia centre (in the basement) and the city Museum of Contemporary Art devoted to art from 1960 to the present day grouped into three sections: French art, Mediterranean identity (Spain and Italy) and Anglo-Saxon and Germanic output. The main movements are New Realism, Arte Povera, Supports/Surfaces, BMPT and New Figuration. Exhibits include works by Tinguely, Sigmar Polke, Boltanski, Garouste, Schnabel, Barceló and Claude Viallat.
