The Michelin Guide's review
In the 19C an enlightened urban-planning project gave Newcastle a new city centre complete with fine public buildings, large covered markets, shopping centres and broad streets, the most majestic of which is Grey Street. Running parallel to busy Grainger Street, which leads to Grey's Monument, just after the entrance to the Theatre Royal. The imposing yet elegant architecture is quintessential "Tyneside Classical".
