The Michelin Guide's review
New York's most prestigious thoroughfare, Fifth Avenue is studded with striking landmark skyscrapers (such as the Empire State Building), churches (St. Patrick's Cathedral), department stores, grandiose state buildings (New York Public Library), and famous museums. In the late-19C, Fifth Avenue was known as "Millionaires' Row," a reference to the rich families who lived here (Gould, Astor and Vanderbilt).
