The town's busiest shopping avenue is also its most historic street, lined with elegant Late Gothic or Renaissance gabled houses. Beneath its arcades, smart shops vie for pride of place with the restaurants and beer halls. To the north, Prinzipalmarkt continues into Bogenstraße (look for the iconic statue of a peddler, the Kiepenkerl in a small square half-way along).
