The Michelin Guide's review
Built in 1552 in the Rhone Renaissance style, this former town hall is unique in France on account of its three façades decorated with paintings, including trompe-l'oeil details. The covered double flight of steps is beautifully balanced. A grimacing stone mask weighing 10kg hangs on the right side of the building; it used to be hung around the necks of scandalmongers who were made to ride around town sitting back to front on a donkey. The building also houses the History Museum.
