The Michelin Guide's review
Moscow's subway network, opened in 1935, has become an iconic symbol of the city. Its stations are monuments unto themselves, as the marble platforms, stucco and gilded ceilings, stained glass, mosaics and bas-reliefs along the circular line illustrate. The network of 12 lines and 200 stations is being modernised (wifi, connected trains, messages in English) and a circular, high-speed, suburban train is planned for 2020.
