The Michelin Guide's review
Konstantin Melnikov (1890-1974), who designed several industrial buildings in Moscow, had this three-storey home built for himself between 1927 and 1929. A masterpiece of Constructivist architecture (but sadly poorly maintained), it is composed of two interconnected cylinders, with a huge glass façade opening onto the street, which provided light for his studio. Melnikov fell permanently out of favour in 1937.
