Anton Chekhov House-Museum
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
On a main road with frantic traffic, this little pink house flanked by a small garden is a sad sight! Anton Chekhov (1860-1904) lived and worked as a doctor here from 1886 to 1890. At the time the future author of The Seagull and The Cherry Orchard had only published short stories. The tour of the Anton Chekhov House-Museum takes you through the writer/doctor's consultation room and bedroom, where you can see his autographed manuscripts, books, portraits and personal effects.
