The Michelin Guide's review
Today, one of Montreal's most distinctive office buildings, the Windsor Hotel was inaugurated in 1878 with a ball honouring the Marquis de Lorne (then governor-general) and his wife Louise, daughter of Queen Victoria. The stone and brick façade is topped by a mansard roof pierced with dormers and oeil-de-boeuf windows. The Adamesque décor of the ground floor is exemplified in the sumptuous ballrooms.
