The Michelin Guide's review
Completed in 1918, this sumptuous Beaux-Arts mansion, commissioned by Marius and Oscar Dufresne, evokes the lifestyle of Montreal's wealthy middle classes in the 1920s and 30s. Two identical wings house a total of 44 rooms, twelve of which are open to the public. Dominated by African mahogany panelling and Italian marble, Oscar Dufresne House (east wing) boasts murals by Guido Nincheri (1885-1973), who was responsible for much of the castle's interior decoration.
