The Michelin Guide's Opinion
The colours of the façades and abundance of flowers lend Montbéliard's old town the warm colours so particular to cities influenced by Germany. It is partly pedestrianised, making for a pleasant stroll during which you might want to look out for the 40-odd corkscrew staircases and the dormer windows with a pulley that was used for getting the fodder in. They make the area very picturesque. Don't miss the imposing Temple St Martin, the oldest Protestant church in France.
