The Michelin Guide's review
Known for its white wine that is heavenly with foie gras, the village of Montbazillac and its 16C château overlook the Bergerac Valley, rising above an ocean of vineyards. The architecture slots in somewhere between Renaissance elegance and martial austerity: within its dry moat and circuit path rises a façade with lattice windows and surmounted by dormer windows. In the courtyard, the cellars are now a restaurant and there is a shop selling wine and farm produce.
