This impressive monastery, surrounded by a huge park, occupies the walls of a former Benedictine convent founded in the 11C. The current buildings are the result of an extension dating from the 17C-18C and a vast renovation programme, started in 1986 and compmleted 25 years later. The church, with its exuberant decoration, contrasts with the austerity of the convent's outbuildings, where an infirmary and the chapter room have been restored. The Mannerist coro alto (tribune) is superb.
