The Michelin Guide's review
The Colonne di San Lorenzo, one of the few remains of Ancient Mediolanum (Roman Milan), lead to one of the city's major basilicas. It was founded in the 4C, when Milan was the capital of the Roman Empire. The façade is a monumental creation from 1894. The church's majestic Byzantine-Romanesque interior has a huge dome and a spacious ambulatory. Don't miss the Cappella di Sant'Aquilino with its splendid early Christian mosaics (5C).
