The Michelin Guide's review
This esplanade is depicted by a long rectangle of lawn, followed by a series of terraced gardens which descend to Place Bellevue. The imposing lump of quartzite, brought here by the Quaternary period, known as the Gros Caillou, stands opposite the extensive panorama of the town to the east, Bugey and the Mont Blanc mountains, visible on a clear day.
