Situated north of Coïmbra, near the Luso spa, surrounded by a stone wall with several doors set in to it, the forested park of Buçaco crowns the northern edge of the Serra do Buçaco. In the centre of this 105 ha forest, home to a most incredible variety of species, there is a fantastical palace-hotel built in 1900 situated in a large clearing. The forest is dotted with hermitages built by the monks and is best explored on foot. There are a variety of walks to choose from.
