The Michelin Guide's review
The residence of the powerful Guinigi family, a tower-house typical of the 13C-15C, is crowned by an impressive red brick tower 41m high. Built in the 14C, it is one of the last houses in Italy to have continued the tradition of planting a holm oak tree on its roof. Take a deep breath and climb the 230 steps and admire the superb view of the town's roofs and double wall of ramparts and greenery which protects the city.
