The Michelin Guide's review
The superb railway station of Los Angeles is worth visiting. Union Station occupies an imposing white building covered with red tiles, in a style evocative of Spanish neo-Colonial architecture. Completed in 1939, it has a splendid concourse bathed in light and adorned with marble mosaics, magnificent chandeliers and big armchairs of leather and varnished wood. Surrounded by gardens, it exudes an astonishing sense of calm, a world apart from the commotion of most major train stations.
