The Michelin Guide's review
Of the abbey founded in 774, only the nave ante-chamber and the Torhalle, a triumphal entrance which is a fine example of Carolingian architecture, have survived; the latter is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A museum now stands on the site of the monastery, with a section dedicated to the history of the abbey, an area devoted to folklore and a tobacco museum.
