The Michelin Guide's review
G. Downing, diplomat and general, had four or five houses built in this cul-de-sac around 1680. «10 Downing Street» has been the Prime Minister's official residence (as well as his office) since Walpole moved there in 1731. No. 11 houses the Chancellor of the Exchequer (the Finance Minister).
