The Michelin Guide's review
In this museum, situated in the 19C wing of the Monastery of the Hieronymites, pottery, weapons and jewellery take you back to the first moments of human presence in Portugal. Stelae and statue menhirs include items from the Megalithic era and the Iron Age. The Roman period is particularly well covered with, for example, a small bronze statue dating from the 1C, Fortune. The Treasury includes a rich collection of archaic goldwork, including bracelets and earrings.
