Description

The Museu de Marinha is dedicated to Portugal's seafaring past. Located in two separate buildings, the west wing of the Hieronymites Monastery and the Galliot Pavilion, it exhibits numerous model ships from different eras that illustrate the "Discoveries", the navy, including old maps and fishing boats. The most remarkable boat in terms of its decoration is the royal brigantine built in 1778 for the wedding of the future king João VI.
