The Michelin Guide's review
This museum traces the history of Lisbon's water supply, and more particularly the Águas Livres (Free Water) project devised by the engineer Manuel da Maia. It occupies the old Barbadinhos steam pumping station, a fine example of industrial archaeology. One of its four steam machines is operated so visitors can see it in action.
