The Michelin Guide's review
Two buildings, one Romanesque and the other Gothic, predate the current building whose construction began in 1364 and was pursued in the 15C and 16C. The rectangular plan is a result of its hall-church character. Two granite Lions guard the entrance; they served, so it is said, to mark the territory of the abbots of St Martial from that of the viscounts of Limoges. The saint's relics are kept behind the carved stone altarpiece.
