Laid out in terraces above the River Vienne, the gardens are organised into three areas: a systematic garden, designed in the spirit of medieval and Renaissance gardens; a themed garden, a pleasant series of medicinal, aromatic and food plants; a garden recreating five regional natural habitats that are typical of the Limousin. The Cité des métiers et des arts has taken up residence inside the vaulted rooms of the former refectory of the Abbaye de la Règle's diocesan seminary.
