The Michelin Guide's review
The Huaca Wallamarka is one of the many pyramids built out of bricks in the valley of the Río Rímac. It was both a sanctuary and a necropolis, and several years of excavation work in the mid-20C led to the discovery of a few hundred mummies, together with a host of artefacts, including jewellery and shrouds, which are exhibited in the adjacent museum. Also known as Pan de Azúcar (sugarloaf) on account of its noticeable height, it is an astonishing sight amidst the modern buildings of the Miraflores neighbourhood.
