The Michelin Guide's review
This is a fortress church from the Gothic period. Built of granite, the spare interior has harmonious proportions. Notice the pillars: they have historiated capitals showing scenes from the Bible. You can see the tomb of the bailiff Frei Cristóvão de Cernache, topped with a painted praying statue from the 16C. The Manueline-style baptismal fonts were sculpted in Ançã stone by Diogo Pieres the Younger.
