From the Grande Anse Macabou as far as Caritan Cove, the Trace des Caps is a long, but not difficult, hike (12hr one-way, to be broken down) on a magnificent coastal path. The path will take you through very varied landscapes (mangroves, unspoilt or more touristy beaches, beach morning glory, seagrapes, almond trees etc), unveiling unforgettable vistas of cliffs, creeks and the ocean - a heavenly backdrop to say the least. A word of advice: stay well away from the Manchineel trees which line the beaches - their sap is corrosive and their fruit toxic.
