The Michelin Guide's review
The late 18C Maison de l'Armateur miraculously survived the bombing of 1944 and now represents a rare testimonial of bourgeois architecture from this period. Its five circular storeys, each entirely decorated in wooden carvings are laid out around an octagonal central well of light. The period taste in decoration is illustrated by the recreated interiors: stables, bedrooms, trading office, curiosity cabinets and observation room.
