The Michelin Guide's review
This square pays homage to Antoine-Philippe de Talmont, Duke of La Trémoille who was the last lord of Laval. At the bottom of the square runs the long Renaissance façade of the Château Neuf, home to the ceremonial rooms of the Counts of Laval from the 16C onwards. Extended in the 19C, the building housed the law courts until 2001. Now beautifully restored, the château can be admired to the full when it is illuminated for the Lumières de Laval festival in December.
