The Michelin Guide's review
Nestled between the Seine and a chalky cliff, the Château de La Roche-Guyon has been continually extended and embellished over the centuries. A visit here, which consists of several chronological tours, provides an incredible journey back in time. Make sure you visit the 12C medieval château and keep, the troglodyte chapel, the shelters built by the Germans during the Second World War, the main 16C building, and the 18C vegetable garden, with its star-shaped layout.
