The Michelin Guide's review
A technological and architectural feat, this tunnel-bridge opened in 2000 connects the two banks of Øresund, the strait separating Denmark and Sweden. This 16km-long fixed link has both a road and a railway line, which go through a tunnel as far as the man-made island of Pederholm, then a double-decker cable-stayed bridge continues up to the Swedish coast. Used by over 70 000 people every day, the bridge has brought about unprecedented development in the whole region.
