The Michelin Guide's review
A must-see for its rich collections, the museum has been extended several times since its foundation in 1819. A modern, spacious building with a grandiose foyer was the latest addition. The departments are spread over three floors and there is a children's area (10am-4.30pm). On the ground-floor, the Danish Prehistory section, from 13000 BCE to 10CCE, is the museum's pride and joy. The history of Denmark is also charted through objects and its successive cultures.
