Killinaboy Church
Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's Opinion
If you are on the lookout for unusual religious art, head to this church dating from the 11C-12C. The gable end at the entrance bears a cross of Lorraine (often the mark of a relic of the True Cross brought back from the Crusades), but the strangest feature is the sheela na gig above the south door: this image of a woman seated with her legs apart, showing her genitals, is a mark of the pagan fertility cult and is found on many Celtic buildings.
