The Michelin Guide's review
On the north shore of Lago Huechulafquen, the largest lake in the province, the small "port" of Puerto Canoa has a handful of farmsteads belonging to the Mapuche community, a few campsites, two hosterías and two restaurants. From here, excursions on the catamaran José Julián set off, to cross Lago Huechulafquen and Lago Epulafquen, taking in Escorial, a lava field created when the volcano Achen Ñiyeu erupted some 500 years ago.
