The Michelin Guide's review
The small Sokollu mosque was built by Sinan in 1571. Entry is via an extraordinary covered staircase that leads to the inner courtyard, embellished with a traditional sadirvan (ablutions fountain). Despite its slender appearance and the half-light within it, it is still possible to admire the superb Iznik tiles adorning the prayer hall. A medersa still operates here and your visit is likely to be distracted by the sight and sound of children reading from the Koran.
