Binh Hoa Phuoc Island
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This island is dissected by a wide channel dug by hand in the early 20C to shorten the journey between Vinh Long and Cai Be. During the day, this waterway is busy with slender craft laden with goods to a background cacophony of boat engines. Today, it is the luxuriant orchards planted to replace the rice fields, which provide a living for locals. At the end of the channel is the Mekong, 1 200m wide and 20m deep at this point. The floating market of Cai Be is on the opposite bank.
