Hoi An Chinese Assembly Halls
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
During the course of its history, Hoi An has been home to large numbers of Chinese who came here from all over China. These immigrants built community centres in Hoi An where they could meet and worship their ancestors. Sometimes referred to as pagodas, these assembly halls are used to thank gods who have helped the Chinese community in some way. The most interesting of these halls is the Fujian (or Phuoc Kien) Assembly Hall, which is open to the public.
