Château de Haroué
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The Château de Haroué, which was built on the site of an ancient citadel and a Renaissance château, more than deserves its nickname of the Chambord of Lorraine. This majestic ensemble of buildings is a very fine example of Enlightenment-era architecture: four round towers, a water-filled moat, magnificent French-style grounds, a landscaped garden, a main courtyard, gateways, statues... Stop to admire the salon decorated with tapestries (17C), the ceremonial bedroom, reserved for King Stanis?aw, and the Golden Room, decorated by the artist Hébert in 1858-1859.
