The Michelin Guide's review
As its name suggests, this 11C wooden pagoda rests on a single pillar rising out of a lake. Its structure recalls that of the small monuments once built to pacify spirits of nature. According to legend, Emperor Ly Thai was inspired to build the pagoda after the goddess Quan Am appeared to him in a dream, sitting on a lotus-blossom.
