The national park of Minneriya is laid out around a huge artificial reservoir that fills with water during the monsoon and remains, although to a lesser extent, an Eldorado for the abundant local wildlife during the rest of the year. All through the summer, visitors are treated to the sight of elephants bathing and water birds fishing - a magical sight!
