The Michelin Guide's review
This museum, the oldest public museum in the Netherlands (1779), was created thanks to the legacy of P. Teyler van der Hulst, an 18C Haarlem cloth and silk merchant. Its beautiful rooms, which preserve the charm of the past (in particular, the oval room), house a variety of collections including fossils, old coins, scientific instruments, paintings from the Romantic period and superb drawings.
