The Michelin Guide's review
The madraza, or Koranic university, was built in 1349 by Yusuf I and ceded to the town council by the Catholic Monarchs after the Reconquista. The very original façade belongs to the last phase of the Baroque Grenadine style (18C). Inside, the old oratory underwent numerous restorations in the 19C but is still visibly Moorish, featuring coloured stuccowork, some small Mozarab vaults and a fine octagonal vault.
