The Michelin Guide's review
The hidden landscapes of the Kizil Çukur Valley wind their way for 3km between tuff hills and hoodoos. Apricot orchards and vineyards contrast with ochre stone which blazes in a cameo of copper, dark purple and scarlet hues at sunset. At the entrance to the valley stands the Üzümlü Kilise (Church of Grapes), the modest remains of an 8C hermitage, which has retained its vibrant frescoes.
