The Michelin Guide's review
This mountainous promontory marks the southernmost point in Europe, as well as the narrow passage (15km) between Spain and Morocco, where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic. Constantly battered by winds, the Strait of Gibraltar is criss-crossed by countless cargo ships, oil tankers and ferries, while young Africans risk their lives on its turbulent waters in order to reach European shores.
