The Michelin Guide's review
Built in 1650, the official Genoa residence of the House of Savoy from 1824, the royal palace has a piano nobile decorated with furnishings from the 18C and 19C. Inside, on the ceiling, take in the frescoes by Domenico Parodi (1668‑1740), who created the dazzling Hall of Mirrors. The Portrait of Catarina Balbi Durazzo by Van Dyck also draws the gaze, the prelude to a fine series of paintings by old masters such as Rubens and Tintoretto. Pretty gardens looking down over the port.
